Product slide in a pitch deck: purpose, rubric and three fixes

Last verified: October 20, 2026

The product slide of a pitch deck shows the product itself: a screenshot, a short workflow or a photo of the thing in use, with a few labels. It turns the claim on the solution slide into evidence, and it is the quickest way for an investor to judge whether the product exists.

What this slide is for

A product shown is worth more than a product described. The rubric separates the two: describing what the product does earns a middle score, and showing it earns the next one.

What the rubric looks for

The getfund rubric v1 does not score slides one by one. It scores dimensions across the whole deck, and this slide supplies evidence for the ones below.

  • Solution and product evidence, getfund rubric v1, score 3: The product is shown (screenshot, photo, demo or step-by-step workflow) and tied to the stated problem
  • Solution and product evidence, getfund rubric v1, score 5: As 4, plus a defensible advantage (patent, proprietary data, network effect, exclusive distribution) backed by evidence

Three fixes

  1. Replace the feature list with one real screenshot or photo and three short labels.
  2. Show the workflow as steps from the customer's first action to the result.
  3. Add one line of proof of use, such as launched, pilots or active users, each with its date.

A template sentence

Fill the brackets with your own confirmed facts. Do not copy the sentence as written, and do not invent a figure to fill a gap.

[Step one], then [step two], then [result the customer sees], shown on a real screen from [month and year].

The check that applies

getfund rubric v1, Text density (3 points): Share of slides over 100 words: at most 10% full points, at most 25% half, above none

The text-density check flags slides with many words. A product slide that is mostly picture and labels keeps the share of dense slides low.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a mock-up?
Use a real screen when one exists. If the product is a prototype, label the image as a prototype so the reader is not misled.
How much text belongs on this slide?
A headline and a few labels. The readability anchors of the rubric penalise slides that are paragraphs.
What if the product is hardware or a service?
Show a photo, or a diagram of the service steps. The rubric accepts a screenshot, photo, demo or step-by-step workflow.
